Day 14 “Free Refills”

Countdown to Pentecost – Day 14

“Free Refills”

“And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”

Acts 4:31

This weekend our church has reopened for public worship after a pandemic that has continued for almost 15 months.  Though we are people of faith, some of us are battling the spirit of fear. Some feel threatened by the remnants of COVID, the non-vaccinated and the anti-maskers.

In the above-referenced scripture, God had just used Peter and John to heal the lame man at the entrance of the temple.  The religious leaders were angry at the attention they received and threatened them if they preached any more about Jesus and the resurrection.  Peter and John went back to the “company” of believers to pray for boldness to keep preaching the gospel. During this prayer meeting, though the disciples were originally filled on the Day of Pentecost, they were “filled with the Holy Ghost” again which emboldened them to keep on preaching.

When we have been through negative experiences like the COVID-19 pandemic, we need boldness to keep going forward. As we come together in corporate worship, we are expecting a “refilling” so we can keep on ministering and pursuing God’s vision for our church and his plans for our lives.

Even if you have already been filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues, there can be many refillings. So as we come together, ask God to fill your cup again because refills are free.
