Job Title: Grounds and Facilities Technician
Job Category: Full-time (Hourly) Position (35 to 40 hours per week)
Supervised by: Facilities Manager
Position Summary
The appearance of the church building and grounds make an important first impression for members and visitors to the church. The building and grounds technician provides a wide variety of skills to keep the church facilities in excellent condition. Must be able to monitor and diagnose problems within the scope of maintaining the facilities and grounds at our location.
Job Responsibilities:
Major Duties:
- Assist with verifying proper function and maintenance of all building equipment as designed.
- Maintain the lawns and landscaping of the church facilities
- Performs maintenance of safety control indicators such as emergency lights and smoke detector fire testing. Updates maintenance logs.
- Implement schedule changes and monitor HVAC control systems.
- Perform work on facility support equipment/building maintenance, including painting, floor care, electrical work, plumbing, etc. Maintain physical building structure.
- Communicate with the Manager and Maintenance Staff to identify problems and coordinate repairs. Suggest and implement improvements to facilities and grounds.
Skill Requirements:
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- High school diploma.
- Previous experience including maintenance or related trade in a commercial, school, or church setting. Must have general knowledge of building services. Physical requirements include lifting, pulling and pushing objects up to 50 pounds, sitting and walking for long periods and have ability to climb, stoop and bend.
- Must read and write English and comprehend instruction manuals.
Qualifications
- Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. Ability to perform with minimal daily supervision.
- He or she must be flexible, available, and dependable.
