Day 12 “Glorify Jesus”

Countdown to Pentecost – Day 12

“Glorify Jesus”

“He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine and shall shew it unto you”  John 16:14

We live in a time when everyone seems to be trying to become famous, gain followers, and become influencers on social media.  However, Jesus told his disciples that the Holy Spirit, who he spoke of as “the Spirit of truth,” would “glorify” him.  For Christians this means that the Holy Spirit is to make Jesus famous, gain followers of Christ and influence others to receive him.  In other words, it’s not about us, it’s about Jesus.

As we embrace the spirit-filled life, we should constantly judge ourselves and question our motives.  Is this going to bring Jesus glory, or it is only going to promote me?  Will Jesus get glory out of this endeavor, this business, this opportunity?  When we are led by the Holy Spirit, it’s all about Jesus.  As a result of making Jesus famous and bringing glory to him,  God will also reward us for our faithfulness to him.

I want to encourage you to not get distracted by others who are building their own kingdoms, promoting themselves and trying to “be great.”  Jesus said that in the kingdom of God, being great comes from serving others.  As we serve Jesus by serving others, he provides for us, promotes us in his time, and gives us favor with God and man.  Our goal should be to “glorify him.”
